What Changes Make the 2017 Ford Mustang Different From the 2016 Model?

Serving Waxahachie, TX, Dallas, and Ennis

The Ford Mustang has been a dominant American muscle car for more than 50 years. It is a favorite among drivers who want style and performance at an affordable price. The 2017 Mustang sees only a few changes from the 2016 model. The same engine choices are available and the iconic styling remains exciting. Improvements have been made in terms of connectivity and track performance. Best of all, Ford didn’t raise the MSRP of the Coupe for 2017.

The 2017 Ford Mustang benefits from a few exterior tweaks as well. You’ll notice that the hood-mounted turn signals have been deleted, so if you love ‘em, you’ll need to get a 2016 model. New colors for 2017 are White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat and Lightning Blue, replacing Deep Impact Blue, Competition Orange, Guard and Kona Blue. Grabber Blue returns for 2017. You’ll also notice new wheel designs, including a black set for the Black Accent Package.

All in all, if you take a Ford Mustang out for a test drive chances are you’ll buy it.

Which Mustang Has More Power?

Mustang is available with a selection of four engines. The Coupe comes with a 2.3 liter turbocharged I4 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The 2016 model has city/highway fuel economy of 22/31 mpg. While the 2017 figures are 21/30 mpg, this due to changes in EPA testing rather than any real difference in fuel economy. The other engines available for Ford Mustang are a 3.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8, and on the GT350, a 5.2-liter V8 with 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. All Mustang models are standardly equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. An automatic 6-speed is available on all but the Shelby models.

What are Some of the Interior Feautres?

The 2017 Ford Mustang Sync3 voice-activated technology is now enhanced with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. CarPlay allows you to use Siri to connect to your iPhone to make phone calls, recall voicemail, manage text message, access playlists and receive turn-by-turn directions. You can accomplish the same tasks using Android Auto that lets you talk to your smartphone via Google. Sync3 is part of the Electronics Package which also includes a nine-speaker audio system.

Is the GT350 Track Package Still Optional for the 2017 Mustang?

For 2017, the GT350 comes standard with a Track Package, formerly an option on the 2016 model. This package includes an aluminum tower-to-tower brace, MagneRide suspension, high-downforce spoiler, and upgraded oil cooling for the differential, engine and transmission. MagneRide adjusts the suspension in milliseconds for optimal track performance.
